The Everything Map lists all notes.
Welcome to my digital swamp
This here is an interpretation of the Digital Garden concept from sanlive.
How it works
This site is a collection of interconnected notes, somewhat similar to an old-fashioned wiki. It is non-linear and there is no strict hierarchy to be followed. Ideas crash and bump into each other through internal hyperlinks. New content is added wherever it is added and there is no documentation for when it was added. The reader can jump in anywhere that seems interesting and find their own path. There are many areas that feel filled in, while others have notes on content I would like to add eventually. Some paths lead on to nowhere, but that's OK. Eventually I will be adding in more content. Probably.
See how it's made.
Beginner's guide
There are some extra tools to help you move through my content:
- Smart search - searches through page content; found in the top right of the page or via keyboard shortcut (
CTRL+K
) - Tags - describes the topics associated with a page; look for the
#
symbol - Maps - dedicated topics that point to many other pages; separate but similar idea to tags
- Hermitage forest - this header at the top of the page shows a view of the swamp; click an icon to go to that page (see Maturity levels below for details)
- Filetree - shows each page, mainly[1] in alphabetical order; to open it, click the (☰) button in the top left; to close it, click anywhere else on the page
- Table of contents - outlines the headers for the current page; opens and closes with filetree
- Local graph - located at the bottom of the page; it shows which pages is linked to the current one; arrows indicate the direction of links, but does not show (tags, Updates,or Everything map); it is now color-coded by location
- Theme switch - click the icon in the bottom right corner to change between light/dark/auto mode; the light theme is better for e-ink
- Random zap - routes you to
paologabriel.com/random
; great for spontaneous discovery - Updates - a dedicated folder for logs that show quarterly swamp growth (see [[#Updates]] below to subscribe)
About
Every page/note/post here is a Markdown file. Content is atomic and features extensive linking.
Maturity levels
I am using note icons to represent the growth of each note. The extended set of icons was designed by The Hermitage. You can find a guide to the note icons here, but to summarize:
- (
) Seedlings are thoughts that are barely started
- (
) Saplings have content but need work
- (
) Trees are grown-up, coherent pieces
- (
) Withered is outdated content kept for the historicity
- (
) Stones are annotations of someone else's content
- (
) Signposts have a lot of links to other parts of the swamp
- (
) Chests are how-tos and tools
Maturity levels are subjective. It might only mean that I'm also very immature.
Updates
I automatically generate an Updates note every quarter that summarizes the growth of the swamp.
The service rssby.email is simple and free. Expect a confirmation email on success, then updates ~4 times a year.
It is just as easy to unsubscribe
You can pull the RSS/Atom Updates feed from:

Updates when a new newsletter is published. For more details, check out wiki
