You have entered the swamp...
Welcome to my "digital swamp", an interpretation of the Digital Garden concept by sanlive. See how it's made.
How it works
This site is a collection of interconnected notes, somewhat similar to an old-fashioned wiki. It is non-linear and there is no strict hierarchy to be followed. Ideas crash and bump into each other through internal hyperlinks. New content is added wherever it is added and there is no documentation for when it was added. The reader can jump in anywhere that seems interesting and find their own path. There are many areas that feel filled in, while others have notes on content I would like to add eventually. Some paths lead on to nowhere, but that's OK. Eventually I will be adding in more content. Probably.
Beginner's guide
There are some additional tools to help you move through my content:
- Smart search - searches through page content; found in the top right of the page or via keyboard shortcut (
CTRL+K
) - Hermitage Forest - at the top of the page, this header shows a top level view of the swamp; it is nice to look at (see Maturity levels below for icon info)
- Filetree - lists each page, mostly[1] in alphabetical order; open by clicking the (☰) button in the top left, close by clicking anywhere else on the page
- Local graph - found at the bottom of the page, this will show what pages are linked to the current one; click nodes to jump to other pages
- Theme switch - switch between light/dark/auto mode by clicking the icon in the bottom right corner; light theme works better for e-ink
About pages/notes/posts
Every page here is just a Markdown file. Content is atomic and heavily linked.
Maturity levels
I am using note icons to represent the growth of each note. The extend set of icons were designed by The Hermitage. A guide to the note icons can be found here, but to summarize:
- Seedlings (
) are thoughts barely started.
- Saplings (
) have content, but need work.
- Trees (
) are grown-up coherent pieces.
- Withered (
) are outdated content kept for the historicity
- Stones (
) are annotations of someone else's content
- Signposts (
) have lots of links to other parts of the swamp
- Chests (
) are how-to's and tools
Maturity Levels are subjective. It might only mean that I'm also very immature.
